5th edition of the Piotr Janowski Violin Competition in Grudziądz
10-12 December 2015

COMPETITION REGULATIONS

1. Organizer:

Stanisław Moniuszko State School of Music (First and Second Level of Education) in Grudziądz

Co-organizers:

Centre of Artistic Education (CEA) in Warsaw
Piotr Janowski Foundation in Warsaw

 

2. Aim and objectives: overview of artistic achievements of children and young people in terms of their performance skills, raising the level of education, promotion of talented students and exchange of pedagogical experiences.

 

3. The Competition shall be held on 10-12 December 2015 in the State School of Music (First and Second Level of Education) in Grudziądz.
 

4. The Competition programme shall include a lecture for teachers in methodology of teaching music.
 

5. The Competition is addressed to students of Schools of Music (First and Second Level of Education) and Schools of Music of General Education (First and Second Level of Education).
 

6. The Competition shall be based on one stage of auditions.
 

7. Students taught by the members of the Competition Jury shall not participate in the Competition.
 

8. The Competition auditions shall be held in the following four categories:

Category 1 – Students of classes 3-4 of Schools of Music (First Level of Education)

Category 2 – Students of classes 5-6 of Schools of Music (First Level of Education)

Category 3 – Students of classes 1-2 of Schools of Music (Second Level of Education)

Category 4 – Students of classes 3-4 of Schools of Music (Second Level of Education)
 

9. The repertoire shall include as follows:

Category 1 and Category 2

– Selected concerto movement (1 or 3);

– A work of music with piano accompaniment (with the exclusion of cyclical sections of the works, e.g. sonatas).

Category 3 and Category 4

– G. F. Telemann, Fantasia for solo violin (two contrasting sections) or J. S. Bach, Partita or Sonata (two contrasting sections) – in case of Partita in H minor by J. S. Bach it is enough to play one section from Double;

– A capriccio or an etude;

– A selected work of music or concerto movement (1 or 3).
 

10. All compositions shall be performed from memory.
 

11. The works may be performed in any order.
 

12. The participants shall have their own accompanist or they will be accompanied by a pianist from the State School of Music in Grudziądz. The School hereby guarantees high-level performance skills of the pianist appointed.

The final terms and conditions regarding the accompaniment provided by the School may be agreed directly by the persons interested (e-mail: gust-portal@wp.pl).
 

13. The participants shall be judged by the Competition Jury appointed by the Director of the Centre of Artistic Education (CEA) in Warsaw.
 

14. Decisions taken by the Competition Jury shall be considered final and binding.
 

15. The Competition Jury shall take decisions regarding the awards/prizes.
 

16. The participants shall receive diplomas confirming their participation in the Competition.
 

17. The winners shall receive diplomas for winners and awards/prizes.

19. Application forms (filled out in BLOCK LETTERS) together with the proof of payment of entry fee shall be mailed until 5 November 2015 to the following address:

21. The entry fee is not refundable.
 

22. The costs of travel, meals and accommodation shall be borne by the participants.
 

23. The detailed schedule of the Competition presentations shall be announced on the website of the School: psmgrudziadz.edupage.org on 14 November 2015.
